Spargel – Tartu (Estonia) en
Summary
This is the coffee shop located in the famous LMK company incubator. You can eat healthy for a good price ( it isn’t fine dining mind you) in a welcoming setting, and among the clients, you find staff from the center and other companies.
The backstory
Someone I knew had a company at LMK and had highly recommended Spargel, one of his favorite coffee shop/restaurant, but I completely missed the fact that it was the place’s cafeteria.
On my last day in Tartu, I wanted to go to the Ahhaa Museum of Sciences, but it was only opened at 12 pm that day, instead of the usual 10 am.
I was looking at my “Like a local” app and it advised that if I was up to it, I should go knock on LMK’s doors. So I did.

I grabbed a coffee there, and I returned later to eat something.
The venue
It’s a nice coffee shop with three rooms in total, it’s comfortable, away from the noise of the street, in the middle of the incubator, so the atmosphere is creative and respectful.
Careful, the rooms can be a little dark.
The team
Very friendly, even if at first service was a little slow, because they were setting up the lunch buffet.
I really appreciated the fact that they thought nothing of the fact that I wanted to move to be closer to an outlet.
The meal
There’s an Estonian menu at lunch, so 3-4 euros. I took a soup and a main so it was a bit more expensive, but I’m talking 8-9 euros including a coffee.
The fruit juice was complimentary ( one glass).
Even though the food didn’t blow me away, it goes down easy, you’re eating fresh and healthy at least.
The verdict
Good spot to eat something healthy and cheap, especially since it’s not always like that in Tartu.
