The team
I know it well, I grew up the son is a crew that is slowly making the same job for a long time with a real « neighborhood conscience », they remember the people are friendly. Sometimes it is the service is less bright because we feel the routine, but it is never completely disinterested, the background is good 🙂
The meal
The cheapests formules are at 10 euros for lunch (starter-main dish-dessert-drink) and at 14 at night.
For one time, I wanted to change and explore the menu. I have asked a recommandation to the waiter and he mentionned the Vindali, Ce soir-là j’avais envie de changer et d’explorer la carte, chose que je n’ai jamais vraiment faite. J’ai donc demandé conseil et on m’a orienté vers le vindali, a simmered dish, specialty from Madras.
I took the one with shrimps coz it’s was the favourite of the waiter, the person who was with me that night choosed the one with lamb.
Entrée
We took the plate of starters for 9,50 euros : very good, with samoussas, badjis (« donuts »), bonda beef (meatball) : fresh, not dry, simple and tasty.
Plat
My vindali was also tasty, the sauce wasn’t fat.
Nothing to complain neither about the vindali lamb.
The verdict
46 euros for two meals including one plat of starters for 2, deux dishes, two kirs offered and two naans (a cheese one and a nature one ) : it feels good, this is a Paris that might disappear, the Paris of good local restaurants, simple and not fancy, not pretentious and with a decent price. It is neither nostalgic nor conservative to say that, just an economic reality.
