Boheem – Tallinn (Estonie) en

Summary

It’s one of the most popular coffee shops in Tallinn, it’s in a quiet corner of Kalamaja, facing the tramway: perfect to take a seat on the patio, or to sit inside in one of their comfortable armchairs with outlet and WiFi.

The backstory

I was at the Seaplane Harbour Museum and as I exchanged pleasantries with the cashier, I asked her if she had any good places to recommend. Her favorite coffeeshop was Boheem, it was good timing, because I had planned to go there, the Tallinn Cartoville also recommended it.

The venue

A very pleasant coffee shop, always busy. The chairs are large, and the tables aren’t too tight, so you don’t feel cramped.

The team

The staff is made up of young ladies, not all of them are equally competent, but all are pretty friendly.

The meal

When I looked a the menu, I wasn’t wowed, and by that I mean: there weren’t that many dishes I wanted to try. Here again you come across the Estonian’s tendency to put cream everywhere, which I wasn’t enchanted by.

I remember I wanted something light, I asked for some advice between several dishes, the choice ended up being a pear, mint, strawberry, and blue cheese salad: original.

Refreshing, and the vinaigrette wasn’t bad at all. A salad that definitely accomplished what it set out to do.

A freshly squeezed orange juice and a glass of water with lemon, tap water is often served with fruit or vegetables in Estonia ( lemon, cucumber, mint), I like that a lot.

The verdict

I liked my salad, but overall, the menu didn’t win me over. I talked to someone else from Tallinn, and they confided that Boheem Café wasn’t an awesome spot for food, it’s more somewhere to grab a drink, perhaps accompanied by a pastry, and to sit down.
